Women of Color in Law San Diego (WOCL) empowers women of color across San Diego’s legal community through mentorship, meaningful connections, and programming that supports professional growth and leadership. We welcome people of all backgrounds and genders to participate in our community and events.

About Us

Founded in 2002 through the vision of Administrative Law Judge Vallera Johnson, Women of Color in the Law San Diego (WOCL) began as a series of luncheons connecting law students and young attorneys with mentorship and community. Those intimate gatherings have grown into an enduring network supported by judges, legal professionals, law firms, and local law schools.

WOCL advances and empowers women of color in San Diego’s legal community. Through mentorship, programming, and connections among judicial leaders, legal professionals, and students, we support professional growth, open doors to opportunity, and encourage leadership.

Everyone is welcome at WOCL. Participation is open to people of all genders and backgrounds and is not limited to women or people of color. We charge no membership dues, and all of our events are open to everyone. We value the contributions of everyone who joins us in building a more inclusive and supportive legal community.
